Due to the abundance of new properties being constructed by building
contractors throughout Ireland, we have noted a general decrease
in the standards and finishes being provided by some of these contractors.
It is vitally important that a house is checked prior to completion
to ensure that the builder has finished the house to the required
standard.
It should be noted that if the client accepts a dwelling house in
its unfinished condition it can be very difficult to ensure the
builder returns to finish these items after completion, the argument
being that Contracts of Sale have been exchanged and they are under
no obligation to complete any further work on the property. By producing
a comprehensive list prior to completion the client can at least
ensure that these items be addressed by the builder and that they
receive a house finished to an adequate standard.
